Cariwest Caribbean Carnival

Fringe Theatre Festival

Take a historic neighbourhood, add dozens of different venues, stir in performers from around the world, throw in a few hundred thousand audience members and let it grow over 11 days. The result: one Fringe Festival. The Edmonton Fringe Theatre Festival hits the streets of Old Strathcona for 11 days of theatrical merriment. From noon to midnight daily, performers from around the globe and around the corner will entertain audiences with song, dance, drama, comedy, and everything in between. Thousands of people pack the various Fringe venues daily, making Old Strathcona a see and be seen neighbourhood.

Dragonboat Festival

EDBFA promotes Dragon Boat racing & multicultural celebration for fun, sport & recreation to showcase Asian culture & promote multiculturalism. The Festival features dragon boat races on the river. Entertainment, merchandise sales and a beer garden are all part of the event.

Marathon

Aug 20-22

Welcome to the brand new – and much improved – marathon for Edmonton. Experience a flat, fast course this summer with first-class amenities for runners and families. The start/finish location is now at Northlands Park racetrack, with plenty of indoor washrooms and change areas. The expo, registration and bag-check areas will be indoors in the multi-million dollar racetrack grandstand. Plenty of free parking, a FREE family fun zone and food services will also be available on race weekend. Events: marathon, 21.1K run, 10K, 5K, Kids Marathon Mile, Marathon walk, 21.1K Walk, 10K walk and 5K walk.
